ISO/TC 176 is short for ISO Technical Committee 176 Quality management. It was established in 1979. At that time the TC consisted of 20 P-members (participating members) and 14 O-members (observer members). In 2000 it consists of 58 P- and 20 O-members. It is composed of the following three sub-committees:

Sub-committee 1 – Concepts and terminology
Sub-committee 2 – Quality systems
Sub-committee 3 – Supporting technologies
