ISO (International Organization for Standardization) has just released a new CD-ROM that for the first time makes available industry sector breakdowns of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 certifications worldwide on a country-by-country basis.

This is also the first time that The ISO Survey of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 Certificates is made available as an electronic product. The CD-ROM can be purchased from us or from ISO Central Secretariat (sales@iso.ch): price, CHF 44.- plus postage.

Up to now, The ISO Survey has given worldwide, regional and national totals of certifications to ISO’s quality (ISO 9000) and environmental (ISO 14000) management system standards. The ninth cycle, which gives the worldwide certification picture up to the end of 1999, also includes worldwide industry sector breakdowns for ISO 9000 and ISO 14000. It is available free as a paper document and downloadable from the ISO Web site.

In response to frequent requests for ever more detailed information on the spread of its management system standards, ISO now goes a step further in providing industry sector breakdowns country-by-country. Doing so in hard copy would have produced an unwieldy document, hence the CD-ROM, which is compatible with Windows, Macintosh and UNIX operating systems. The industry breakdowns are according to the 39 sectors of activity making up the EAC (European Accreditation of Conformity) classification code used by many accreditation and certification bodies.

The CD-ROM also includes all the information presently given in the paper version, including the table of national adoptions of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000, but in a more accessible form.
