Role

QSAE, as the national standards body of Ethiopia, has the responsibility of providing information service to industry, trade and the general public efficiently and effectively. The services given by the Documentation and Technical Information Group (DTIG in organizational structure) of QSAE relate to the following.

  1. Sales of Ethiopian standards on print-on-demand basis;
  2. Documentation and answering all queries pertinent to standards information;
  3. Providing library services to visitors;
  4. Managing membership schemes.

Resources

The resources of QSAE's technical library is quiet unique in that it is the only library in the country which has a comprehensive and vast (over 120 000 in number) collection of national, regional and international standards and other normative documents. In addition, latest catalogues of standards, books, magazines, and annual reports of standardization bodies are also available in a well-documented manner for easy access by users.

International links

QSAE is a member of the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) ISONET, which is the an information network based on agreement between standardizing bodies to combine their efforts to make information on standards, technical regulations and related matters readily available. The network helps users find information on ISO standards and on the several hundred thousand standards and technical regulations in use throughout the world.

The Authority maintains close links with national and international standards bodies that enables it to provide information in a fast, reliable and economical manner by acting as a gateway/bridge between these bodies and its customers.
